Current power is 116hp at the rear wheels. Soon to have reverse eyed, 200lb lowered rear springs added and Bilsteins for the rear. Adjustable height, coil over Capri struts with 350lb Eibach springs and Gp2 Bilsteins on the front. Volvo 4 Pots with 2.8L Capri ventilated front disks. Also DCOE weber style quad throttle bodies. Most of this stuff is on order or sitting in the shed, just need time to fit it to the car. |

I purchased the car in July 2004 form the guy who had restored it and used it as his daily driver for the previous 4 years. I then used the car to get me to and from work for over a year without a problem. The car had factory ghia Air Con (since removed), Type 9 5 speed and stock sierra EFI fitted, but I thought a good rebuild was in order to keep it on the road and reliable. After 10 months of awaiting parts and the auto electrician to finish, the car emerged with it's current engine package. What started as a reliable build got a little out of hand and now a new Ford Fiesta gets me to and from work, whilst the Escort is used only to blast around on the weekends. As it stands now the car makes about 165bhp at the fly, but the sierra manifold runs out of air above 6500 revs. So soon quad throttle bodies will be added to get it to rev out freely beyond 7000 revs which will allow a retune and a chance to unlock some more power. Also after a few track days the suspension was found to be less that satisfactory, so it will be upgraded shortly.
So far the car has been just what the doctor ordered. After owning a few Mini Clubman GT's (Cooper S's without the price tag) and some hot V8's from both Ford and Holden, I decided the RS was the best mix of small classic car and rwd. I enjoy the club seen and after being a member of the WA FPV/Tickford owners club for 4 years, I am looking forward to getting this car out and about. Most of all I am looking forward to getting the car on the track and ringing it's neck... |
